Residents are invited to have their say on sites for possible development as part of Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) Local Plan.
For Chorleywood, this includes up to 440 homes at Catlips Farm, 10 homes on land at Homefield Road, five homes at Chorleywood Library, 23 homes on land at Stag Lane, and 57 homes at North Hill Farm.
For Rickmansworth, this includes 980 homes at Nine of Herts Golf Club, 27 homes at Primrose Lodge on London Road, 16 homes at The Island off Church Street, nine homes at The Vicarage on Bury Lane, and 12 homes at Meresworth Care Home on Field Way.
For Abbots Langley, this includes 147 homes on Chequers Lane, 142 homes at Fortunes Farm, 35 homes at The Old Dairy on Chequers Lane, 35 homes at High Elms Manor, and 333 homes on land to the east of Watford Road.
For Kings Langley, this includes 35 homes on land adjacent to 60 Harthall Lane, 10 homes at Lonsdale on Hyde Lane, and 32 homes on land to the east of Sarratt Lane.
The Local Plan document, which guides decisions on future proposals for new homes and associated infrastructure and employment, is required to be submitted to the government for approval.
The government has set a mandatory target of 13,312 homes for Three Rivers over the next 16 years. TRDC carried out additional evidence work which delayed the submission of the plan, but reportedly “gives us the best chance to avoid having to submit a plan for 13,312 new homes”. TRDC is aiming to submit a final plan to the government early next year.
Following a meeting of Full Council on Tuesday, July 8, a majority of councillors agreed on a public consultation to be conducted to give residents a chance to give their views on the suggested sites put forward by landowners.
Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of TRDC and lead member for the Local Plan, said: “We are seeking residents’ views on these suggested sites put forward by landowners, not by us. No decisions have been made. We also have to assess these, and other sites previously consulted on, against our new expert green belt review we are undertaking as well as comments from statutory bodies. That is why we want residents’ views.
“We remain committed to a Local Plan that is right for Three Rivers and that we have the right amount of housing and infrastructure while protecting as much of our green belt as possible.”
The consultation will be open until Sunday, August 31. To have your say, visit haveyoursay.threerivers.gov.uk/local-plan-newly-submitted-sites-policies-consultation
