‘BIG SMILES’: Brothers raise £2,000 for Abbots Langley charity that cared for their granddad

A pair of brothers have raised almost £2,000 for Leavesden-based charity Say it with a Smile through running the Brisbane Marathon.

Ben and Luca took on the marathon on Sunday, June 1, in honour of their grandfather, Bryan, who is living with dementia.

Say it with a Smile supports people affected by dementia and their families.

The charity cared for Bryan until recently, when he suffered a sudden stroke and was hospitalised. This happened days after he attended the charity’s VE Day party, where he had “been up dancing and entertaining” all involved.

Speaking to ABBOTSnews, Hannah Say, CEO and founder of the charity, said: “I was so blown away when Ben contacted me to share that he and his brother Luca were running the Brisbane Marathon and organising a JustGiving page for our charity.

“All our charity members, volunteers and trustees are so grateful to Ben and Luca for running the marathon – such an incredible achievement. Big smiles all round!”
