When Berkhamsted FC raced into a two-goal lead against North Leigh in less than 20 minutes, it looked like the afternoon would be plain sailing for The Comrades.

The home side had the dream start when Alex Witham slotted home on the counter-attack from a North Leigh corner. Berkhamsted 1 North Leigh 0.

The Comrades doubled their lead on 16 minutes when in-form striker Lewis Toomey smashed home after the North Leigh keeper pulled off a stunning double save. Berkhamsted 2 North Leigh 0

As the half wore on, the visitors got back into the game but it was Berkhamsted who extended their lead when Jonathan Lacey put them 3-0 to the good.

After the break, North Leigh played like they had a point to prove and four minutes after the restart, the visitors clawed one back when Callum McNish found the top corner from 25 yards out. Berkhamsted 3 North Leigh 1

Just over ten minutes later, the visitors reduced the gap to one goal when Adam Learoyd headed home from Henry Landers corner. Berkhamsted 3 North Leigh 2.

Berkhamsted held on to take the three points and The Comrades remain second in the BetVictor Southern Division One Central League

The Comrades are next in action when they travel to Didcot Town on January 18.
