Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) have announced what events and activities they’re organising to mark the Platinum Jubilee.
A four-day weekend from June 2 to 5 has been set up to mark the 70th year of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, a record for a British monarch.
The council have stated that they’ve already received a record number of applications from members to the public to hold street parties over the extended weekend.
Libraries across Hertfordshire will have books from the Big Jubilee Read, celebrating great literary works from across the Commonwealth, and the county will be hosting new literary festival ‘Wild Worlds’ , which will be attended by numerous best-selling authors, provide fun writing activities for kids and a themed Big Jubilee Lunch to raise money for the charity BookTrust.
There will also be numerous events at other libraries all over Hertfordshire.
Beacon lighting and flag-flying events are also being organised, as is traditional for jubilee celebrations.
More information will be released in the coming weeks, so to book tickets for the Wild Worlds Festival and see what events are taking place near you, visit HCC’s dedicated web page.
