Berkhamsted Gymnastics Club (BGC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
More than 3,500 children and adults have come through BGC’s doors since its foundation in 1973. The club operated in a variety of school halls many years before a relationship and a permanent base at Ashlyns School was established.
As part of the celebrations, a commemorative club competition is being held on June 27.
Training and development consultant Carina Brown said: “We’ve developed an excellent community, family-friendly atmosphere here. In gymnastics, there’s not too many chances to compete, so our anniversary competition is going to be a great opportunity for everyone.”
The club’s lead welfare officer, Sarah Edwards, has been with the club for 14 years, and recently received the British Gymnastics Safe Sport Award.
Carina said: “Sarah’s been incredible. She’s been the one to create this wonderful community spirit, and we are so pleased that she has been recognised.”
