DRUG BUST: Three men sentenced for hazardous drug batches in Watford

Published on: 30th August 2024   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Three men were jailed yesterday (Thursday, August 29), following an investigation into hazardous class A drug batches in Watford.

Earlier this year, police launched an investigation and issued a warning to the community after several people had suffered medical episodes in the town after possibly taking synthetic opioids under the guise of heroin.

Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Serious and Organised Crime Team investigated a particular drugs line called the “Chris Line” which was suspected to be involved in the supply of these drugs.

Three men aged in their 20s were arrested, charged and remanded following a proactive operation. Officers also seized substances believed to be class A drugs.

Following a six-day trial which concluded yesterday at St Albans Crown Court, the three men were found guilty and appeared for sentencing.

  • Daniel Harlley, aged 29, of Vicarage Road, Watford, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
  • Deejay Evans, aged 21, of Fairlawn Close, Feltham, was sentenced to 2 years and 11 months for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
  • Yannick Lomete, aged 29, from Islington, was sentenced to 4 years and 9 months for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Detective Inspector Grant Finnie, from the Serious Crime Investigation Unit, said: “I hope the sentences received by those involved sends a strong message that we will work tirelessly to combat the supply of drugs in Hertfordshire.

“Throughout this investigation, our top priority was tracing this harmful substance and removing it from the streets of Watford. I am pleased that through our proactive work, this has been achieved.

“We understand the impact county lines has on communities and these sentences reflect how seriously we take this kind of activity. Where necessary, we can deploy specialist detectives who will work to bring those responsible to justice, no matter where in the country they operate from.”
