Local children enjoyed a fun treat during the summer holidays thanks to a Ruislip-based football club.
For 12 days in August, a number of young people aged four to 11 took part in special summer camps organised by Wealdstone FC. These took place at both the club’s Grosvenor Vale stadium and on campus at Brunel University London, where the club’s training ground is located.
Fifty places were reserved especially for school-aged youngsters who are educated in, live in, or are under local authority care in Hillingdon and receive benefits-related free school meals.
Participants took part in a variety of fun exercise-based games and activities, as well as enjoying sports and educational workshops designed to teach teamwork, confidence and community spirit.
Richard Hopwood, chief operator officer of Wealdstone FC, said: “We are thrilled with the success of our Summer Camps and the positive feedback from the families involved.
“Thanks to the support from Hillingdon Council, we were able to offer an invaluable experience for local children, ensuring they stayed active and engaged during the summer holidays.”
