HALF A CENTURY: Croxley quadruplets celebrate 50th birthday surrounded by family

Published on: 8th June 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Croxley’s resident quadruplets celebrated their 50th birthday in April with a family dinner at The Artichoke, surrounded by their parents, seven children and two grandchildren.

Gordon, Deborah, Andrew and Richard grew up in Croxley and three of them still live in the village. Richard, meanwhile, lives in nearby Garston.

Reflecting on the siblings’ childhood, their mother Barbara said: “Life was very, very busy. They were all doing different things, like swimming, Brownies and Cubs. We had a young woman, Judy, stay with us until they were five and she remains a very close friend of the family.”

According to their parents, the siblings get on well and are very close to one another. Gordon and Richard both play sport, with Gordon a member of Croxley Guild Cricket Club and Richard a keen runner, cyclist and underwater hockey player.

Deborah works in education, and Andrew recently moved back to Croxley after many years in Clacton.

Occasionally, the family found themselves thrust into the spotlight when the children were still young. Much rarer than twins and triplets, there were only 3,556 sets of quadruplets recorded worldwide in 2007.
