The Leader of the House of Commons, William Hague, visited Watford today to congratulate a school on their recent Ofsted result. Mr Hague was accompanied by Watford MP Richard Harrington during his visit to St Michael’s Catholic High School, on High Elms Lane, in Garston. He also visited Peace Hospice Care, in Watford, as they were recently given a grant by the Government. During his time at the school, Mr Hague was shown on a tour of the premises, spoke to head students, David Higginson and Aisling Sheehy, and also he and Mr Harrington were involved in a Q&A session with other pupils. Mr Hague was full of praise for the job that Ed Conway, headteacher at St Michael’s, and his staff had done at the school, along with the excellence of the students. He said: “This is clearly a very good school. There is a certain ethos at faith schools and they deliver curriculum. The reputation of faith schools is very high in this country and St Michael’s is certainly no different.” Later in the year, the General Elections are taking place across the country. Watford is a key seat, with whoever has won nationally having won in Watford too. Mr Hague told My News Magazine how he thinks Mr Harrington is still the ideal candidate to keep Watford moving forward. He added: “He is a great MP, he is a very reactive MP and he is always sticking up for Watford and as Leader of the House of Commons, I think it would be impossible to find a better MP.
