Police have confirmed that two males were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in Berkhamsted yesterday.
Officers were called at 3pm yesterday to reports of a man allegedly in possession of a gun after being seen in a vehicle in the Boxmoor area of Hemel Hempstead.
Armed officers immediately attended and carried out a thorough search of the area, but no suspects were located.
Further enquiries throughout the afternoon resulted in the vehicle being traced to the Berkhamsted area.
At 5pm a white BMW was stopped on the High Street, near to the George and Dragon pub.
The two male occupants have been detained and arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and were transported to custody.
Officers conducted an initial search of the vehicle at the scene before leaving the area.
