GRIME-BUSTERS: Harrow Council invests £800,000 to keep borough ‘clean and safe’

Harrow Council has announced an £800,000 investment into street cleansing to improve Pinner and its surrounding areas and keep local neighbourhoods safe and clean.

The council has introduced a brand-new team, known as the Grimebusters, to remove grime including graffiti, fly-posting, pigeon droppings and paan stains.

Councillor Pritesh Patel, cabinet member for cleaner streets and public safety, said: “Here in Harrow, we’re serious about keeping our streets clean. That’s why we’ve invested £800,000 into street cleansing. It’s part of our commitment to restore pride in Harrow.  You’ve probably spotted our extra crews emptying litter bins and clearing rubbish from parks and high streets.

“From the early morning with their powerful kit, they’re removing grime, including graffiti, chewing gum, fly-posting and dirt off our streets to keep Harrow clean and safe.”

If you see a problem on your street or elsewhere in the borough, you can report it online and the Grimebusters team will resolve it. For details, visit www.harrow.gov.uk/streets/street-cleaning
