Northwood’s Holy Trinity School has been honoured with a special certification recognising it as an eco-friendly school.
The Eco Schools Green Flag is an initiative designed to encourage schools and the wider community to make an effort to be greener in their daily and educational lives.
As part of a recent review, the organisation has recognised the school for its hard work and given them the flag, stating: “Your work shows the Eco-Schools Team that environmental education and action is at the heart of everything your school does!
“We can’t believe how much work you have managed to achieve since 2020 especially during Covid restrictions, well done!”
Responding to the achievement, a spokesperson for Holy Trinity said: “Many thanks to the Eco Committee for all their hard work and also a big thank you to everyone who has helped us to achieve this award.”
The school isn’t stopping now however. It’s next big plan is for a Green Jumper Day, raising awareness about climate change and the fight against it.
On the day, the building’s heating will be turned down and students will wear an extra jumper to keep warm instead. Various eco-activities will also be taking place throughout the day, with pupils and staff also encouraged to have a meat-free lunch on the day.
