GREEN FLAGS: More than 20 parks in Northwood and Ruislip recognised with award

Published on: 4th October 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A total of 21 parks and green spaces in Northwood and Ruislip have been given Green Flag Awards this year.

The areas recognised with the prestigious accolade include Northwood Recreation Ground, Hog’s Back Open Space, the Gravel Pits on Ducks Hill Road, Ruislip Woods, Manor Farm, and Shenley Avenue Recreation Ground.

The award, which is an international accreditation for the best public spaces around the world, has been given to 46 spaces in Hillingdon. This means that the borough has the highest number of Green Flag Awards in the UK for the 12th year running.

Councillor Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council’s cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “This is fantastic news for residents who continue to see investment, maintenance and improvements to the green spaces which make our borough so pleasant.

“The Green Flag Awards show these parks meet the highest international standards, so we don’t take for granted having achieved the top spot nationally for 12 years in a row.”
