Pupils from a Garston school joined together with hundreds of others from across Hertfordshire for an outdoor festival.
The Festival of Outdoor Education took place at the University of Hertfordshire’s Bayfordbury campus. A total of 300 children from five local schools – including Cherry Tree Primary School – took part in a range of activities, including identifying plants and insects, pond dipping, and nature bingo.
Emma Hill, outdoor learning lead at Cherry Tree, was one of 70 staff and university students to support the activities.
She said: “Our pupils absolutely loved their day at the university and were totally engaged with the varied interactive and inspiring activities that encouraged them to connect with nature.
“We feel extremely privileged to have been able to attend this wonderful outdoor event and our pupils have already been putting their new observational and creative skills into practice back at school.”
The event was conducted by the University of Hertfordshire’s School of Education and its Widening Access teams together with postgraduate students.
