GREEN ART: Year of environmentally focused art in St Albans to launch this month

Published on: 23rd July 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

The St Albans Arts Team are preparing to launch a year of events and projects all focused on sustainability and the environment.

The aims of the Greenart programme include raising awareness of environmental issues, encouraging eco-friendly behaviour in the city, and giving opportunities to local artists.

The whole series of events is set to kick off with a special musical performance at St Albans Clock Tower from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday, August 13.

Featured artists will include violinist sisters Alice and Juliet Beadle, singer-songwriter Abbie Gathard, and the Purple All Stars.

Live music events such as these are set to continue as the project runs throughout the year.

There will also be the Greenart Trail, featuring environmentally focused submissions from local artists, photographers and poets, and the community Reyclart project, creating original mosaics from discarded objects.

You can keep up to date with Greenart events at their Facebook page.

Anyone interested in submitting artwork, photography or poetry for the Greenart Trail should contact Grae at graewall@everyoneactive.com
