GREAT WORK: Kings Langley community rallies to provide donations for NHS staff

Published on: 26th January 2021   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

With hospitals across the county under pressure with the continuing rise in COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions, residents are coming together to support NHS staff.

This is the case in Kings Langley as the community works to put together parcels to help support hospital staff.

Wendy Brown who helped provide hot meals during the first lockdown has set up a donation point where residents can drop of snacks for GRAB N GO bags which are then donated to various hospitals such as Watford General, with the help of You Donate…We Deliver.

She said: “In Kings Langley there were lots of us making the meals the first time around, so therefore we just got back in touch with our contacts and worked to spread the word.

“Then each person is getting five or so neighbours adding donations and they’re bringing it down to me.”

Wendy hosted the first collection recently at The Kitchen at Inspired as there is more space for storage and says she hopes to collect donations weekly.

She said: “Adam at The Kitchen at Inspired has said that people can drop stuff off there as it’s more accessible for people.

“We will be keeping the momentum going for as long as possible, for as long as this third lockdown is in place.

“There was so much donated last time, it was amazing.”

Wendy added that it’s not just snacks, and other foods needed but beauty products such as hand creams and shower gels.

Donations can be dropped at The Kitchen at Inspired on Hempstead Road throughout the week or on when Wendy is there to accept them on weekends.
