GREAT EFFORT: Two Chorleywood siblings set up bake sale in aid of charity

Two Chorleywood siblings joined forces and organised a bake sale to raise money for charity GreenPeace.

The sale, on April 11, was organised by Arianna Gomm  (7) and Suvi Gomm (4) from Lower Road, who came up with the idea with their friends Emily and Idith, from Newcastle.

Mum Laura, who is very proud of their efforts, spoke to ChorleywoodNews and said: “We have friends in Newcastle and we usually see them regularly but unfortunately because of lockdown we  couldn’t anymore.

“We started doing a baking club on Zoom with the kids every Saturday. They have been baking together for the last year. They talk to each other about things they learn at school and Emily, the girl in Newcastle was learning about plastic pollution and keeping the oceans clean, that’s why they picked GreenPeace.

“Emily asked Arianna if they wanted to do a stall in Chorleywood and they would do one in Newcastle.”

Talking about the day, Laura added: “The day went really well, we’re on Lower Road so you have a lot of people passing by to and from the shops.

“It was nice to see the neighbours and to have people stop and chat, it cheered everyone up.”

The family managed to raise £148, 55.
