A Rickmansworth resident has recently been left saddened by the current state of Woodcock Hill Cemetery.
Susan Cassar was left upset by the state of the graveyard upon a recent visit, with some graves overgrown with long grass and a general untidiness about the area.
Speaking to RICKYnews, Susan said: “I was upset when visiting the cemetery today to see how untidy it looked – it used to be a lovely space, especially with the planters at the entrance, the new garden area and many of the graves bright with flowers.
“Now it just looks like a mess, as the gardeners are no longer strimming the untended graves. These are now covered in tall field grass, and the whole cemetery looks very unkempt and unwelcoming, especially to those arriving for their loved ones’ funerals.
“In addition, these grasses will probably seed in the graves where relatives do visit regularly and tend their graves.”
A spokesperson for Three Rivers District Council, who manage the cemetery site, said: “The current grass cutting of plots at Woodcock Hill cemetery is almost complete, with the exception of any plots we have specifically been asked not to maintain.”
