Plans to turn the former Edgware police station into a hotel and restaurant have been recommended for approval.
Harrow Council has recommended that permission be granted for the application, which proposes to convert the old station in Whitchurch Lane into a 38-bedroom hotel, at a Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday, July 24.
However, before any building work can begin, the council has informed developers that they must meet certain conditions. This includes improvements to the kerbsides in Whitchurch Lane as well as upgraded yellow lines on the road to make it no waiting at any time. These conditions being met would form part of a legal agreement.
Rooms would be spread across all three floors of the building, which has stood empty since June 2021, with a restaurant, kitchen and reception area on the ground floor.
A report from the planning meeting reads: “Given the clear economic benefits of the scheme within a preferred town centre location, the principle of the development can be supported.”
