David Simmonds CBE, MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, is once again lacing up his trainers as he begins training for his third London Marathon.
On Sunday, April 27, the MP will join thousands of people for the 26-mile run from Greenwich to The Mall outside Buckingham Palace.
This will be the third time he has taken on the challenge. Last year, Mr Simmonds MP secured a time of 6:09:06 and raised a whopping £2,583 for the Alzheimer’s Society. The year before, he fundraised for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre in Northwood.
Hoping to build on this success, the MP is aiming to raise even more money in 2025, this time supporting Prostate Cancer UK.
Mr Simmonds MP said: “This year, I am proud to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK. This is the most common cancer among men in the UK, with research suggesting that around one in eight men will develop the disease in their lifetime.
“However, prostate cancer has not traditionally received the level of investment and focus of other cancers.
“I am pleased to see this is changing, and I want to support that cause. I will be running to raise money for lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.”
