The family of a Croxley pupil recently got in touch to share the story of their son and his fundraising efforts in the hope that it can be inspiration for other children.
Rakshith Subramanian who is in Year 5 at Little Green Junior School in the village noticed that some of the sports equipment at the school was splintered and chipped and wanted to do something about it and decided to start fundraising.
With the help of his father Prasanth Subramanian, Rakshith set up a JustGiving page and challenged himself to cycle 50km in 30 days to raise £500.
Prasanth said a blog from Rakshith’s headteacher motivated him in his fundraising and he went on to complete the challenge in 12 days raising £600.
He said: “His headteacher wrote a blog about his effort which had motivated him so much to do his best to support his local community.
“Rakshith is more aware of problems and comes forward to share his ideas and puts efforts to contribute to the local community.”
Prasanth added that he hopes this story could be an inspiration for children and parents in the community.
