GOALS GALORE: New signing Sara Wiltshire starts life at Watford Women FC among the goals

Published on: 7th October 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Watford Women’s new signing Sarah Wiltshire has started her second spell at the club in tremendous form, with four goals in the first six matches in the FA Women’s National League South.

After scoring a hat trick on her debut in a 4-1 win against MK Dons, the goals have just kept coming for Sarah and she told WatfordNews her hopes for the season.

Wiltshire has played for a number of clubs including three spells at Yeovil, as well as playing at Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. She has also picked up 31 caps for Wales, scoring eight goals in the process.

She said: “I felt like it was the right time to return to Watford, I always thought one day I would come back and it’s great that we’ve started off really well as a team. I know a lot of the girls and have played with some of them before, so it was really easy to settle in.

“When you’ve got such talented players around you it makes it easier to score the goals, and hopefully we can all achieve something together this season.

“The aim is to get promoted but it’s a very competitive league and despite winning every game so far, we still think we haven’t reached our true potential and that there’s still more to come.”

Wiltshire’s first goal in her hat trick against MK Dons was a tremendous lob from around 25 yards, and she admitted that it’s definitely high up in the rankings of her best goals.

She added: “That goal was definitely up there, and it meant a lot on my return to the club. We all hadn’t played competitive football since March, so to start the season with a good win there was a great feeling.”

Sarah also added a goal in the next three games against Oxford United, QPR and Gillingham respectively, which has helped the Hornets move to the top of the table after the first four games.

Next up for them is a trip to Crawley Wasps, who have had a mixed start to their season, on Sunday, October 11.
