Chorleywood based charity Mission EmployAble has revealed the winners to the first-ever virtual flower show.
The competition had to go online because of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
Mission EmployAble hosted Mission DiggAble on its website and awarded prizes in eight categories: tallest sunflower (Tim Venner), best vegetable (James Langford), best painting (Jane Herman), best flower arrangement (Heather Morley), best hanging basket or container (Alison and Harry Lowe), best upcycle (Beaumont Care Home), kids’ corner (Poppy Davis) and best in show (Beaumont Care Home).
Founder and chair of Mission EmployAble, Katharine Weston thanked all the local businesses who donated prizes.
In a statement published on the charity’s website, she said: “Like so many charities, our fund-raising activities have been put on hold this year, but we wanted to keep our name in the public eye.
“DiggAble was a wonderful opportunity and it proved to be great fun for all the participants.”
The competition was organised in conjunction with the horticultural societies of Chorleywood and Heronsgate.
The charity is fundraising for a new Café that will provide a bespoke and supported employment scheme for young adults with learning disabilities.
