Croxley Green resident Janet Eavis is being hailed as a “girlguides hero” after receiving two national guiding awards.
Janet was presented with a National Good Service award in October in recognition of her exceptional commitment and dedication to Girlguiding across Hertfordshire.
Last year, Janet was also presented with her 40-year service brooch for her time spent volunteering for the Girlguides.
As assistant county commissioner, Janet has played a key role in recruiting and supporting new commissioners, helping to strengthen leadership teams and ensure volunteers have the support they need to thrive.
Speaking to CroxleyNews, Janet said: “Since moving to Croxley, work commitments have left me unable to commit to regular weekly unit meetings. The huge advantage of flexible guiding is that it allows me to be involved in other ways – in local guiding commissioner roles, mentoring and organising day trips and camps.”
Janet’s colleagues said: “Janet’s willingness to share her knowledge, offer guidance and step in wherever needed has made a lasting impact.”
