Christmas comes early at Watersmeet this month when New English Ballet Theatre brings its acclaimed production of The Nutcracker to Rickmansworth on Friday, October 30.
The full-length ballet, choreographed by Royal Ballet First Soloist and NEBT Associate Choreographer Valentino Zucchetti, offers a fresh and stylish take on the much-loved classic.
The story follows young Clara, whose Christmas Eve takes a magical turn when she receives an unusual antique nutcracker. Soon she is transported into a fantastical world of snow, soldiers, dancing pirates and romance, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s instantly recognisable score.
The production toured the UK in 2025 to critical acclaim and sold-out performances, and now returns for its largest tour to date as New English Ballet Theatre celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Zucchetti said: “I am really excited that NEBT is once again presenting our successful production of The Nutcracker. Last year we worked really hard to bring a compact, swift and fresh production of this iconic ballet to audiences of all ages. This year we’ll be performing at some venues for the first time such as the Chichester Festival Theatre so even more people will be able to experience the magic our wonderful dancers will deliver.”
Artistic Director Karen Pilkington-Miksa MBE said: “What better way to mark this milestone than with our largest tour to date?”
She added that the company wants to make ballet accessible and welcoming to anyone and everyone, while creating opportunities for local children to become involved.
