The annual Music in Pinner series is continuing to inspire residents, with an upcoming performance from a contemporary jazz band.
At 7.30pm on Saturday, March 15, Pinner Parish Church will host Five-Way Split, featuring saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos, trumpeter Quentin Collins, pianist Rob Barron, bassist Matyas Hofeker and drummer Matt Home.
The band’s vision is to carry on the lineage of groups like Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, as well as mirroring the New York contemporary-bop scene.
From this inspiration, the band presents a sound that respects the tradition of the hard-bop era whilst also bringing it up to date for today’s audience.
They have played sold-out shows at London’s Ronnie Scott’s, 606 Club, Pizza Express Live, and other jazz clubs up and down the country.
Their album, All The Way, was voted one of Jazzwise magazine’s Best Albums of 2023, and the band were nominated for Best Jazz Ensemble at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2024.
