Excitement is building for Chorleywood Music Society Orchestra’s Summer Concert, set to take place in the Barbirolli Hall at St Clement Danes School on July 9.

The programme is filled with “stirring music” and “memorable tunes”, according to chairman Andrew McFarlane.

He said: “Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony is one that everyone should hear performed live at least once in their lifetime.”

Andrew is also thrilled to welcome back local cellist and “amazing player” Nicola Tait Baxter for the Dvorak Cello Concerto.

Nicola told Chorleywood News: “The concerto is grand,; it’s full of beauty, nuance and soul that is typical of Dvorak’s style. After moving to America, Dvorak’s music took on a huge breadth and grandeur, yet you can clearly hear the ache and nostalgia for his Czech roots and homeland through the melancholic melodies in the cello and wind tunes. I absolutely adore this piece and can’t wait to play it; [it’s] a real powerhouse for the soloist and orchestra! It fills me with joy to be working on it again and to be joining the wonderful Chorleywood Orchestra and their fantastic new conductor Daniel Hogan.”

Tickets can be purchased on the door or online here.
