EASY BREEZY: Women invited to get involved with Amersham cycling group

Published on: 10th January 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Rachel Fennell, the founder of Breeze Amersham, is inviting women of all ages and fitness levels to hop on their bikes and join the group for a ride around town.

Since Breeze was launched by British Cycling in 2011 to encourage more women to get on their bikes, more than 800,000 female cyclists have taken up the sport. The Amersham branch was set up six years ago and is beloved by many women keen to explore the tracks and trails around the Chilterns.

Rachel explained: “We’ve got all sorts of women coming out on rides, from those who are retired to those with full-time jobs.

“Breeze has changed my life. I’m fitter than I’ve ever been, I have four bikes and I’ve got a whole new bunch of friends. Honestly, I’ve done things I never thought I could do.”

Rides are grouped into three categories – easy-going, steady and challenging – meaning that there is a suitable route for everyone. Each ride varies in length between five and 49 miles but there is almost always a coffee and cake stop en route.
