Bushey and Oxhey Football Club will host a walking football marathon event next Saturday (September 18) to raise money for the club and local mental health charity, Hertfordshire Mind.
The 10-hour walking football marathon challenge will take place at Power League in Watford and is suitable for all ages including families, elderly people, and men and women’s teams.
Geri Orawe, from the clubs fundraising committee, said: “We’re hoping to bring the community together, highlighting the importance of physical activity and good mental health, especially given the negative impact of lockdowns on grassroots football and people’s emotional well-being.”
The event was organised by Dave Knight from Bushey and Oxhey Football Club, who wants to promote the importance of sport in maintaining mental health and wellbeing.
Elected Mayor, Peter Taylor and local councillors are set to attend on the day, alongside football legends Luther Blissett and Tommy Smith and an unconfirmed QPR player as well as the Hertfordshire Mind Team.
