Parmiter’s First XI hockey team were crowned county champions last month after beating Royal Masonic in the final.
All of the team showed great maturity and skill from the first game of the group stage to the agonising final against their Rickmansworth opponents.
A neat finish from Alice O’Neill in the first game secured a vital point for Parmiter’s who went on to smash Queenswood 2nd XI 7-0 due to some excellent attacking play.
In the final group stage match, the school continued their form and beat Simon Balle School 3-1 with Eliza Peters, Melissa Coates and Gabriella Holland scoring.
Being unbeaten in their group stage matches, the team progressed easily into the semi-final vs Hockerill.
Gabriella Holland scored within the first two mins with an outstanding reverse stick strike into the top corner.
From their push back the team quickly won the ball back and drove into their ‘D’ before Gabriella Holland again striking the ball into the roof of the net.
In the last minute, Hockerill scored from a short corner but it was too little, too late.
With both teams unable to score in normal time of the final against Royal Masonic, it went to penalty flicks.
Goalkeeper, Mia Brown, made some outstanding saves, getting down to save three of their flicks, resulting in Parmiter’s being crowned county champions.
As GarstonNews went to print, the team travelled to Ipswich to play in the East tournament on the October 8. We will be documenting the outcome of the tournament in the next edition.
