Northwood Tennis Club recently held its annual finals competition, with a number of exciting, close-fought matches.
Fergal Davern produced a master class in the men’s singles, comfortably beating Duncan Chorley who has previously won the tournament several times.
Fergal then joined up with John Ghosh in the men’s doubles to play Duncan and Colin McCarthy. The first set was close, but Fergal and John ran away with the second set.
Lastly, Fergal with his wife Alita took on John and his daughter Hannah in a hard-fought mixed doubles match. The final set was close, but Fergal and Alita won seven games to six.
Hannah had previously won the ladies’ singles against Jess Wilde, who fought back in the second set but eventually ran out of steam in the tie break.
In the ladies’ doubles, Angela Ghosh and Alita Davern retained their title, beating Hannah Ghosh and Serena McCarthy.
The veteran’s mixed doubles were one-sided, with Jess’s mum Sam Wilde and club chairman Charlie Fuller comfortably beating Hope Ezomo and David Cameron.
