A Garston underpass decorated with student artwork has been vandalised for the second time in recent months.
The A405 subway, which is located near the Harvester at Horseshoe Lane and St Albans Road, has hosted a gallery of artwork of students from Parmiters and St Michaels’ Catholic High School since April.
The gallery is part of a Herts County Council initiative to encourage active modes of transport. The project was funded jointly by County councillors Stephen Cavinder and Tim Williams from their respective Highways Locality Budgets.
As My Local News reported in May, the artwork in the tunnel was vandalised within a month of being introduced. Now, vandals have sullied the pupils’ hard work again.
Cllr Cavinder said: “Hugely disappointed to see that two of the paintings in the gallery space in the A405 subway have been removed and replaced with graffiti – they don’t deserve for this to happen.
“The paintings will be replaced but it may take a little while. If you know who the perpetrators are then please do report to the police.”
