Detectives investigating an incident in St Albans on Saturday that resulted in the death of a man have made two further arrests. Yesterday afternoon, a man aged 19 was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody. Then on Sunday, a 26-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder. The nine other people arrested yesterday currently remain in police custody. The incident occurred at around 3.20am on Saturday in London Road when a 20-year-old man was injured during an altercation. He was then taken to Watford General Hospital, where he sadly died a short time after. Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, from the Beds, Cambs & Herts Major Crime Unit, said: “This incident occurred at a busy time in the city centre and there is a large number of witnesses that are being spoken to as part of the investigation. I would urge anyone who knows anything about the incident and has not yet spoken to police, to do so immediately by calling the non-emergency number 101.” Alternatively if you have information about this incident you can contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
