A forthcoming theatre production at the Radlett Centre has received a much-needed funding boost from a borough councillor. Elstree Productions Theatre Company will be staging ‘A Slice of Saturday Night’ at the centre in October and needs to hire microphones to ensure the production is a success. Councillor Morris Bright from Elstree ward, who is also the Leader of the Council, has allocated £250 so that the company can hire the equipment from his Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) allocation, which provides each councillor in the borough with funds to grant to local projects. Helen Claydon from the production company said: “We’re very grateful to have been allocated the funding by Councillor Bright. We are looking forward to staging the production which is a really fun show based in a 1960s nightclub. We hope it will be a real success.” Cllr Bright added: “I am an avid supporter of the performing arts in all its many forms and am sure that the production company will put on a great show.” If you want to apply for WIIS money please contact your local borough councillor who each have £500 per year to grant to local projects – if you don’t know who that is find out at www.hertsmere.gov.uk/findmycllr or call 020 8207 7558.
