Watford Leisure Centre – Central has received a major £3million investment, with refurbishment work set to begin this summer.
The scheme will be jointly funded by Watford Borough Council and Everyone Active. It will include the creation of two large group exercise studios, along with the refurbishment of the third studio, increasing capacity from 45 to 85 participants.
The expansion will also see the centre’s gym almost double in size, kitted out with new state-of-the-art equipment, and the creation of a new reception area.
The centre’s male and female changing rooms will also be fully refurbished.
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “This investment marks a significant step forward in supporting the health and wellbeing of our town, and making the centre even better for everyone.
“With these improvements, even more people will be able to enjoy a first-class gym and fitness classes right in the heart of our town.”
Karl Miles, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “By expanding and upgrading key areas of the facility, we’ll be able to offer a significantly enhanced experience for our members — with more space, better equipment, and a broader choice of classes.”
