FRINGE FEST: Box office open for 2024 edition of Waford theatre festival

Published on: 24th April 2024   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

The box office for the Watford Fringe Festival 2024 is now officially open – meaning you can buy tickets for more than 50 performances across a whole month of great entertainment.

Every year, multiple venues host an extraordinary live line-up of great theatre, music, comedy, dance, magic and family shows. As well as running for longer this year, the festival will also now include outdoor performance spaces for the first time.

So far, more than 50 acts have come on board for the eighth edition of the festival, with more expected to sign up by the end of May. There will be a variety of entertainment from pre-Edinburgh shows and returning favourites, to local talent, special youth performances, award-winning acts and premieres of new material. Whether you’re looking for opera or drag, belly laughs or emotional drama, there’s a show for you.

The festival takes place from July 1 to August 4. It is organised by Watford Pump House in partnership with Watford Borough Council, Watford Palace Theatre and the Watford & Three Rivers Trust.

This year, there will be 15 different performances spaces – the most the festival has ever had. They include Watford Pump House, Cassiobury Park Bandstand, The Garden Rooms, The Wellspring Church, St Mary’s Church, Cheslyn House, The Barn, the LP Café, Mad Squirrel and Watford Palace Theatre.

Lee Farman, chair of Watford Pump House, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing you an extended Watford Fringe Festival this year, encompassing even more of the best culture and arts that Watford has to offer. Every year, we’re growing in scale and reputation and we’re attracting more and more exciting acts.”

There’s still time to sign up as a performer. Anyone and everyone is welcome to apply; there’s no selection criteria. All you need to do is register your event online before the end of May.

And with the expectation of more performances this year, organisers need more volunteers to help run the show and make sure audiences are well looked after.
