A Rickmansworth resident who has run pilates classes in the town for over 25 years has raised money for local charities by hosting free virtual classes throughout March and April.
Lianne Tonge, who owns Pilates Studio Rickmansworth and is a member of West Herts Golf Club has offered pilates classes free of charge on Zoom to local golf clubs, who instead pay £5 towards the Lady Captain of each club’s chosen charity.
Local golfers at Chorleywood, Moor Park, West Herts, Batchworth and Sandy Lodge Golf Clubs have been involved in the fundraising.
Pilates instructor Lianne told RickyNews: “I just wish I had come up with the idea sooner. It has been wonderfully supported and in just seven weeks we have raised in excess of £1650.”
The money raised goes directly to each club’s chosen charities – Playskill Watford, Watford Blind Centre, Maggies Cancer Support, On Course Military Support and MissionEmployAble.
Lianne added: “I know how much pilates, core and general exercise benefits us all and definitely will help with your sport irrespective of what it is. Not only is it a great way to get core fit and strong, you also help raise money for charity.”
Lianne is looking forward to reopening her studio for group in-person pilates sessions when restrictions ease further in May and welcoming clients old and new. To find out more details contact 07747617285 search ‘Pilates Studio UK’ on Facebook.
