A mascot adopted by a road in Abbots Langley has recently been decorated to celebrate the Lionesses’ incredible recent success in the Women’s World Cup.
The residents of Follett Drive adopted a mannequin, named Timmy, and a bike as icons to represent their street after the bike was abandoned by the road sign two years ago.
Since then, Sunnyside Rural Trust has planted a beautiful flowerbed around the mascot, and both Timmy and the bike have been decorated to celebrate events throughout the year.
From July 20 to August 20, Timmy wore an England football shirt, with both the mannequin and the bike also decorated in the flags of the 32 countries taking part in the Women’s World Cup.
The residents hoped to bring good luck to the Lionesses with their support, which seems to have worked,. The team’s extraordinary run in the tournament saw them reach their first-ever final on August 20.
Elsewhere, Watford footballing legend Luther Blissett came to Follett Drive on August 8, to accept a cheque for £250 the residents had raised for the Sunflower Club, a group helping out displaced Ukrainians in the Watford area.
