Plans that will see up to 40 homes constructed on the St Albans green belt have been approved.
The development, located just off Boissy Close in the Oaklands area, will include three self-build homes, as well as car and cycle parking.
The decision was made at a meeting of St Albans & District Council’s Planning Committee on Monday, August 14.
Despite objections raised by 16 of the houses currently on Boissy Close and the Boissy Park Campaign Group, the application was approved.
The committee’s report reads: “The development comprises inappropriate development, for which permission can only be granted in very special circumstances.
“The benefits include the provision of housing, affordable housing and self-build housing, the provision of open space and play space, and economic benefits.
“These other considerations are considered to clearly outweigh the harm to the green belt.”
Agents Avison Young have been contacted for comment.
