Youth football club Berkhamsted Raiders haven’t let the lockdown dampen their players’ spirits – they’ve instead held a virtual training session with all the youngsters.
Like many clubs in the local area, Berkhamsted Raiders have had to adapt to the lockdown restrictions in November.
While many kids are still getting exercise at school, Raiders wants to ensure their football skills don’t drop off too.
They held a virtual Zoom training session last Saturday (November 21), with more than 270 boys and girls joining their coaching team, led by head coach Steve McHugh (pictured seated) and club coach Charlie Macey (pictured standing), through a range of ball skills and a weekly exercise to practise, with prizes for the best efforts.
They also uploaded pre-recorded sessions to their YouTube channel for the kids to follow.
Christian Armond, marketing trustee at Berkhamsted Raiders, said: “It was great to be able to offer some virtual training sessions to the players during this latest lockdown.
“Hopefully, we won’t need to do too many more, as we’d rather be out playing, but it’s been great to see the kids have enjoyed it.”
