FOND MEMORIES: Leavesden Cycle hub to close down after five years operating

Published on: 21st July 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Leavesden Cycle Hub is to close down with its operations to be moved to its Watford counterpart.

Since opening its doors in 2018, the location inside Leavesden Country Park has been a go-to centre for those looking to learn how to ride a bike, those looking to hire one, or those looking for repairs and servicing for their cycles.

In a statement posted on their website, the cycle hub team stated their reasoning behind the closure, saying: “By operating out of a single site, we can continue to offer training, advice and servicing cost-effectively.

“Additionally, consolidation of the team on one site allows us to explore how to bring our help to a wider catchment area across the Three Rivers District through pop-up repair clinics and a wider choice of locations for training.”

They also thanked customers, volunteers, coaches, trainers, Three Rivers district councillors and officers, One YMCA and local cycling advocates for their help in running the hub during the last five years.

The Watford Cycle Hub is located at the King Charles V Playing Fields off Tolpits Lane in Watford.
