The much-loved owner of a Kings Langley café has said that the “time is right” for her to move on as she steps down after 35 years of service.
Louise Wood, 55, first took charge of The Little Shop in Station Road in 1989 and went on to run the café for many years.
Speaking to Kings News, Louise said: “Thirty-five years ago, I’d been working for someone in a pub and she asked me if I wanted to do a sandwich round with her.
“Eventually, we ended up speaking to the people who owned The Little Shop and asking if they wanted to sell to us, and they did.”
Louise has now put the shop up for auction and plans to move to Corby, Northamptonshire, with her long-term partner, Gareth.
Speaking about her decision to close up shop, Louise said: “I feel the time is just right. It’s my decision; it’s time to move on.”
However, Louise has many fond memories of her time at The Little Shop.
She added: “I have had so many memorable customers, some who sadly aren’t with us anymore.
“Back when the college was in the village, many kids came to visit, and they are now grown adults coming back today! I’ve made some lifelong friends.”
