The festive postbox toppers have returned to St Albans to spread that extra bit of Christmas cheer.
For the past couple of years, Clare Suttie and her team of knitters have decorated postboxes around the city and raised money for local charities at the same time.
Using a map to follow the trail around the city, residents can scan a QR code to donate money to this year’s charities; the St Albans Food Bank and Open Door, as well as entering themselves into a competition to win a bunch of fantastic prizes.
Clare said that the team have overcome the challenges of this year and are excited to see people out and about enjoying the trail.
She said: “Logistically there have been some challenges with COVID such as collecting things from people and getting things together, but we have managed it all.
“There’s lots of great prizes and we hope it is going to get people walking round.”
Clare added that last year the St Albans Postboxes raised around £12,000 and she is hoping to beat that amount this year, with over £5,000 already raised.
She said: “I know the community in St Albans are very generous so I’m sure they will dig deep.”
Prizes for the competition which will come to an end around December 28, include a giant Toblerone, prosecco and a £250 voucher to spend around St Albans.
