What started out as a dumping ground on orphaned land in Pinner has been turned into a community garden thanks to a local resident.
In 2023, Kanchan Chauhan noticed that dumping on the site was getting worse.
Calling in the help of nearby residents, councillors and Harrow Litter Pickers, Kanchan decided she would bring pride back to the area.
Consisting of 10 clean-up events, volunteers, residents and businesses came together to turn the site into a space the whole community can enjoy.
Now, the space has been completely rejuvenated, with planters made from repurposed fly-tipped pallets filled with colourful bulbs.
Locals have donated supplies and plants, and pots were donated by WindowFlowers.
Kanchan said: “This is just one example of what can be achieved when members of the community, businesses and the council are united.”
Rayners Lane councillor Thaya Idaikkadar said: “It is a fantastic transformation which is both unique and one that everyone involved should be proud of.”
