Police were called at just after 12.30am on Wednesday, November 27 to reports of a road traffic collision on the M1 northbound at junction 8.
The collision involved a blue Audi S3 which collided with crash barriers.
On officers’ arrival the occupants of the vehicle had made off. A search of the area, assisted by the police helicopter, was carried out but the occupants were not located, and enquiries are continuing.
Partial road closures were in force while the incident was dealt with, the vehicle recovered, and debris cleared from the carriageway.
BCH Road Policing tweeted: “Believe it or not, the two occupants of this car got out and ran away after rolling several times and coming over the crash barrier from the M1 on to the A414. Manhunt under way.”
