FIRST ORDERS: Pub opens in Gerrards Cross after months of development

A long-awaited pub has finally opened its doors in Gerrards Cross.

The Journeyman, operated by Oakman Inns, welcomed the community to the pub on Packhorse Road for the first time on Friday, July 21.

The opening of the pub was initially proposed for autumn 2022, after a planning application was submitted in May 2022.

The building is known for being the site where Gordon White established his Austin Motors dealership, which played a big part in the development of British motorsport.

The name of the venue comes from the Jethro Tull song Journeyman, which features the famous lyric: “Too late to stop for tea at Gerrards Cross.”

General manager Jamie Firminger said: “The first few days have been a real success, and I couldn’t be more proud of our new team!

“We put a photo on Facebook of the original building when it was Gordon White’s iconic showroom in the 50s and the newly opened Journeyman beside it. These two pictures perfectly capture our desire to become part of the town’s history while bringing the very best of modern food and drink.”
