Emergency services rushed to Chipperfield earlier today (Tuesday, March 19) after a fire broke out in an outbuilding.
Five fire engines and several police vehicles were both on the scene opposite The Boot pub in Tower Hill after a call was made at 10.46am. Upon arrival, smoke was scene pouring from the building, and firefighters entered wearing breathing apparatus.
They located the fire in the roof of the outbuilding, and began to tackle it both from the inside and the outside. It took just over an hour for it to be put out, and the blaze was extinguished at 12.02pm. The fire services remained on the scene until just after 1pm to dampen down and investigate the blaze’s cause.
Herts Fire & Rescue Service later stated that they believe the fire was started accidentally.
Precautionary checks were also carried out on two individuals who had inhaled smoke before the emergency services arrived.
