An Abbots Langley resident who has shaped, guided and cared for the village’s youngest residents has retired after 25 years.
Alison Redmond opened Clarendon Montessori Nursery in 1997 with just eight children in her first class, and has since welcomed countless young people through her doors.
Alison marvels that her very first students are now 30 years old, and she still sees them occasionally around Abbots and Kings Langley.
She said: “It’s been a wonderful 25 years. I’ve had so many amazing children, parents and staff. It’s something I could never do on my own; it’s all thanks to a great team.
“It’s just been a real privilege to teach and look after the young children. It’s been a fantastic journey, and it’s sad to leave, but I can’t go on forever. I’ll miss it very much.”
Alison and the Clarendon Montessori staff attended a special dinner in December, both as a chance to say farewell and to celebrate her life’s work.
