Northwood artist Jonathan Hutchins has created a special nativity-themed artwork in tribute to acclaimed 20th century painter David Jones CBE.
Jonathan’s piece, titled ANIMETVRGENTILIS 1930, is a more colourful rendition of the same scene in David’s piece, depicting the birth of Jesus.
Jonathan said: “My intention is to keep to the composition and content but make a large, colourful oil painting, as an homage to Jones. I am so in awe of his draughtsmanship, that making changes unnecessarily would seem disrespectful.”
The piece is set to be displayed until the end of December at St Edmund’s Church in Northwood Hills, where Jonathan’s wife Helen was a curate until her passing at Easter.
