A Chorleywood woman is appealing for donations to support a new dog rescue charity she has helped to set up in Spain.
Emma Browne lives in the village but works with a Dutch woman and her son who live in the Álora region of Málaga. Together, they are the co-founders of Álora Dog Rescue (ADR).
The charity is dedicated to taking in and looking after the many dogs who are abandoned in the region. Currently, they are looking after more than 100 pooches, both young and old.
ADR works to restore the dogs to health and provide them with new homes across Europe, with most going to the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.
There is a rigorous adoption process, with all dogs being microchipped, vaccinated, sterilised and issued with a pet passport.
Speaking to Chorleywood News, Emma said: “We currently have over 100 dogs – ranging from puppies that get dumped on the side of the road to older dogs whose owners just move homes and leave them tied up in back gardens.
“We rely on donations only and we like to try and get our dogs adopted in Europe. We have so many gorgeous dogs of all shapes and sizes looking for their forever home and so many wonderfully successful adoptions.”
